A June Preview

Hey everyone! It's time for the June Preview! I'm going to be talking about posts that will be coming soon (These will be called "Features"). I also will share some miscellaneous pictures that I have taken as well. These can be both retail-related and non-retail-related. I hope you enjoy what's coming, because there's going to be a lot of exciting posts coming to the blog in the next two weeks!

P.S: All features are from Waterford

FEATURES:

1. The Waterford Toys "R" Us Has Been Gated Off

I was pretty bummed when I saw this. It could possibly be getting demolished, since I saw some chalk that said "demo". Although a new tenant could replace the space, I'm predicting this place will be demolished.

2. It Used to Be an Ames: Lowe's in Waterford, CT

"It Used to Be an Ames' Will be getting a new post soon. This time it will be about Lowe's, which overtook the Waterford Ames

3. Waterfall Place Shopping Center

While this plaza does have an abandoned Benny's, I'll be talking about the entire shopping center. This is because Brands "R" Us already has a post about this store (don't worry, I'll talk about the Benny's for quite a bit in my post.)

4. McDonald's in Waterford, CT

This location is another one of the three remaining Mansard style McD's in New London County. Interestingly enough, The interior got an EotF style renovation a few years ago.

5. Abandoned Papa Gino's/ D'Angelo, Waterford, CT

This location closed back in 2012 and has remained vacant ever since. The interior is in surprisingly good condition for an eight year vacancy

MISCELLANEOUS PHOTOS:

Caffecino in Groton, CT. This property has been home to a few different tenants including a tattoo place called Skin Grafix. Caffecino was the last tenant here. They closed sometime in between 2015 and 2017, and the property has been vacant ever since

KFC in Groton, CT. This location was Connecticut's last Mansard style KFC. It got an extreme renovation in 2017.

McDonald's in Groton, CT. This former Mansard Style McD's got a Forever Young renovation in the early 2010's. Luckily, the classic "McDonald's Hamburgers" sign remains.

The Gold Star Bridge. This bridge connects Groton and New London, and also goes over the southern part of the Thames River.

This was exiting the Waterfall Place Shopping Center onto US 1. I took this picture for two reasons. 1. the cookie-cutter houses, and 2. why not?

Dollar General in Waterford, CT. This location recently replaced an abandoned Rite-Aid. This replacement isn't surprising at all when you consider how Dollar General is starting to take over New London County, and the entire Country.

That's it for this preview! I'll see you all very soon!
