Abandoned Papa Gino's/D'angelo in Waterford, Connecticut

Welcome to another edition of Retail on The Thames! Today we're going to explore an abandoned Papa Gino's/D'angelo restaurant in Waterford, CT.

INFO: Located in an unnamed plaza in Central Waterford (The same plaza that hosts an older McDonald's we talked about last time), this shared restaurant closed it's doors around June 1st, 2012 according to this article. Papa Gino's has been declining for a while in Connecticut, with there only being one location left in the dying East Brook Mall in Mansfield Center. Meanwhile, there are still a handful of D'angelo locations in the state.

We started at the back of the restaurant.

                                                      Heading towards the main entrance.
This location has many visible labelscars, but this one is the clearest of them all.

Another entrance.

More shots of the back.
This vacancy has many cool remnants, including the store hours, as well as a "We Deliver" sign.

Here's the interior, which is in very good condition for an eight year vacancy.

That's it for this post! I'll see you all next time!

McDonalds: Waterford, Connecticut

Welcome to another edition of Retail on The Thames! Today we're looking at another old McDonald's restaurant.

INFO: This newer McMansard was built in either 2000 or 2001 in a unnamed plaza in Central Waterford. A few years ago, the interior got a modern renovation that is very similar to the interior of a brand new McDonald's. Besides one location inside of a Walmart, this is the only McDonald's in Waterford.

The Current Interior.
My enthusiasm of photography in general came out in this shot.

Interesting "Enter" signs.

Around the Drive-Thru (The last picture is blurry, but I liked the signage enough to add it.)

That's it for this post! Next time we'll be looking at an abandoned Papa Gino's/D'angelo that's located in the exact same plaza as this McDonald's. I'll be posting that in a couple of days.

Waterfall Place Shopping Center

Welcome to another edition of Retail on the Thames! Today we're going to be looking at a shopping center in Waterford that would normally be rather boring, but because of it's abandoned anchor Benny's, the plaza has some interest to it. Although this post will focus on the entire center, Blogspot user Brands "R" Us wrote a blog about the abandoned Benny's that I suggest you check out. With that out of the way, let's take a look at this plaza!

PHOTOS:

First, let's take a look at the abandoned Benny's, which closed in early 2017, and has been sitting in decay ever since.

Shots of the exterior as well as a view of the Benny's labelscar

Some attempted close-up shots of the labelscar

The decaying interior

Here's some other pictures of the shopping center

More vacant space. I'm not sure if these was a part of Benny's, or if these were separate tenants.

Planet Fitness, which became the main attraction after Benny's closed.

The other stores at the plaza, which are located to the right of Benny's

That's all for this blog. I'll see you all soon!
