Retail on the Thames: Exploring Retail of Eastern Connecticut: New London Mall

A beautiful store directory

On March 14th 2020, just days before most retail shut down due to the pandemic, I visited the New London Mall in New London, CT.

MALL INFO: The New London Mall is an outdoor shopping center located right off of I-95 in New London, CT. It is home to a variety of stores and things to do. Just like the Norwichtown Mall, the New London Mall was once a tiny one story indoor mall, but was converted to an outdoor shopping center.

I visited the complex and took a variety of pictures of a variety of stores located at the shopping center. Enjoy this showcase of a small mall turned into a outdoor retail center.

Here's Guitar Center, which is part of a small detached wing that also contains a HomeGoods, and an A.C Moore. I've had dozens of happy childhood memories at this specific location.

These are some of the store across from where the initial mall once was. These include ShopRite and Petsmart.

Here's Marshall's, one of the main attractions here. This store also has some offices on the second floor.

Food options include Outback Steakhouse, a Chinese buffet called the Panda Buffet, and This Chili's, which despite having an old exterior look, actually has a modern interior.

SpringHill Suites by Marriott. Despite this being in Waterford it's still within the plaza, so I put it on here. This hotel opened in 1998, making it a much nicer option to stay in compared to the three motels near it.

Due to this mall being right next to I-95, you can see a lot of traffic while at the plaza, and due to me liking roads I took a few pictures of the Interstate.
